Now that the weather has turned from comfortably warm to downright hot, what better way to spend a Saturday evening than in the air conditioned climate of Cutter’s Point in Covington, listening to the music of the VZ Valley Boys, from 6:30-9:00? Yes, they have cool drinks as well as the standard coffee drinks. This show kicks off a series of summer appearances for the VZVBs, sandwiched around (and occasionally within) the complex schedules of the band. One never knows when Sparky will be called away for a special mission, or when Phil will finally get that much anticipated call from “Dancing With the Stars.”This show also marks the public debut of Al’s new banjo, The Flamingo. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed as flamingos to the show that night to commemorate this auspicious occasion.Sunday has Phil play for Java Fusion from 1:30 to 3:30. Java Fusion is an equally nice coffee house located in Tacoma near the Narrows Bridge at 6820 6th Ave. Pam has run a very upscale house for several years that Phil has been there periodically since the beginning. The rest of the month is, as always, full for The Boys in various forms:Sunday June 14 3-5 PMPhil Hansen soloGrimaldis CoffeeGilman VillageIssaquahSat June 20 7-8:30Sun June 21 8-9:30 & 10:30-12:00Gypsy Joe's Jute BoxThe SummitHighway 410EnumclawWed June 24 7-9 PMThe VZ Valley BoysRhapsody in Bloom3709 6the AveTacomaFriday June 26 7-10PMPhil Hansen SoloWired Coffee House1522 Cole StreetEnumclawSaturday June 27 6:30-9:00The VZ Valley BoysCutters Coffee House16739 SE 272CovingtonSunday June 28 3-5PMPhil HansenThe Mandolin Cafe3923 S 12TacomaJune 30 Chris is leaving to tour folk festivals in Europe for a month.
