THE LITTLE FLOWERS OF ST FRANCIS

Warning: Pun Ahead

Some friars needed to raise more money for books for the school, so they opened up a small florist shop to raise funds.

Since everyone liked to buy flowers from the men of God, a rival florist across town thought the competition was unfair. He asked the good brothers to close down, but they would not. He went back and begged the friars to close. They ignored him.So, the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, the roughest and most vicious thug in town to "persuade" them to close. Hugh beat up the friars and trashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop.

Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that "Only Hugh can prevent florist friars."

QUIET

Shhhh!

A Sunday school teacher asked the children just before she dismissed them to go to church, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?"

Annie replied, "Because people are sleeping."

Susan G. Komen 3 Day walk - Help end breast cancer

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Roni Moore <ronicornelia@hotmail.com>

Hi Everyone,
As you know - I am doing 60 miles in 3 days for the Susan G. Komen organization. I really do not mean to keep bugging everyone about donations.  Any donation is important  - it goes to helping find a cure. Also - it is a tax write off.  :-)    (hey - every little bit counts)

Our group, "Trekking for Tridle" has done quite a bit of fundraising yet, I still need donations to be able to walk the end of November.

As a team we decided to walk for Michelle Tridle - to support her and to find a cure, unfortunately she lost her battle with cancer.  We are now walking in memory of Michelle - I wish there was a cure.
It affects so many people.
This is an important and worthy cause -- it is important to me since I have known quite a few women and their friends and family that breast cancer has affected and if we can raise money so others do not have to go through it, it is worth it. Also, I will be dedicating a lot of hours to fund raising and training for the walk.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, any donation would be appreciated. (You can also donate via the link on my FaceBook page)

Roni

This year, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure.

I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. Net proceeds from the Komen 3-Day for the Cure are invested in breast cancer research and community programs.

I've agreed to raise at least $2,300 in donations. I've set my personal goal at $2300.00. So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation of any amount? Keep in mind how far I'm walking - and how hard I'll have to train. You can give online at The3Day.org. Just follow the link below to visit my personal fundraising Web page and make a donation. You can also call 800-996-3DAY to donate over the phone.

We are walking for Michelle Tridle (she was a PA at St. Joseph's Hospital) , she recently passed away from cancer. Our team name is Trekking for Tridle.

One person is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes in the United States. That's why I'm walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me - by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sincerely,
Roni

P.S. Ask your employer if they will double your donation through a matching gift program! Click here to visit my personal page.

hello everyone, hello fall, hello europe

72 hours till I'm on a plane.  I am so excited.

But it's 9/11 and I'm also remembering what I saw 9 years ago.

I've been practicing today for tomorrow's show, and for Europe.  I'm feeling connected to the music, it's so much fun.   If you are free tomorrow night in NYC, come see me perform at National Underground (upstairs) at 7pm SHARP (sharing the stage with Chantilly).  I'll be playing songs I don't normally perform, like Bones, Just Me, and Gaga's Bad Romance.

If you know anyone in Europe & the UK, please forward them this newsletter.  It's my first European tour and the best way to fill a room is word of mouth.

Hope to see you soon,

Athena

A few thoughts on 9/11

I remember watching the towers fall from my roof and thinking, "no, no, please don't let them be falling, there are people in there". I love New York. I love all of humany, all faiths and all religions. 9 years ago today was a sad sad day. It's sad that a small group of extremists can have the power to inflict pain... on so many people. But I do feel our administration is doing everything in their power to diminish the threats of terrorism. But we are always vulnerable. It's impossible to prevent everything. Bless us all, 1 world, 1 people.

>> If you are interested, check out the rock musical, Athena Under Attack, that I wrote 8 years ago

I think that's it!

Hope to see you soon!

A Good Day for Ice Fishing

After church, little Johnny and his brother go ice fishing. Little Johnny starts drilling on the ice when a voice from above says, "Young man, there's no fish down there.”

Little Johnny asks his brother, "Who is that?"

His brother replies, "I don't know."

So little Johnny starts to drill again and the voice says again, "For the second time, there's no fish down there."

Little Johnny asks his brother, "Could that be God?"

His brother replies again, "I don't know."

Little Johnny starts drilling again and the voice says once more, "Young man, for the last time, I'm telling you there's no fish down there."

Johnny looks up and asks, "Is that you, God?"

The voice says, "No, I'm the manager and the rink's closed."
